Kid-Friendly Ways to Serve Green Vegetables
It’s never too late for kids to start eating a new food. The only way that a child definitely won’t ever have a chance of eating the food is if you give up. I was talking to a friend yesterday about how her son started eating pizza after 8 years of not eating it. Kids often just need repeated exposure - in different ways, in different environments, with different people....
In the meantime, if your child doesn’t like green vegetables, rather than serving them on the side of the plate as say sautéed spinach, consider serving them in some other way. This isn’t meant to hide the food, but rather have your child learn that they might like the food if served differently.
Try these kid-friendly ways to serve green vegetables:
-green smoothies like this monster green smoothie from @theseasonedmom
-in a muffin like these spinach muffins from @yummytoddlerfood
-in a pasta dish such as this pasta from @superhealthykids
-in soup like this yummy minestrone from @cookieandkate
-kale chips are so simple to make and a fun take on green vegetables. Try out this recipe from @minimalistbaker
-in meatballs either by adding about 1 cup fresh or frozen spinach to your favorite meatball recipe or try these meatballs from @skinnytaste
-as dried seaweed snacks like @seasnax seaweed sheets or chomperz
-try any type of lettuce - spinach, bibb, romaine, or even iceberg with salad dressing like this fun way for kids from Jaime Oliver. For kids, a salad might just be lettuce and salad dressing which is definitely a win!
-as a wrap instead of a tortilla or taco like these Asian lettuce wraps from @dinneratthezoo
